My Major Appliances

My dad gave me my very first camera shortly after I fell in love with photography as a young child. I had taken several pictures with his expensive camera and I’m pretty sure he gave me my own little point and shoot camera so I wouldn’t damage or lose his.

When I graduated from high school my parents gave me my first SLR camera body with several lenses. My boyfriend helped out by giving me a flash, filters, tripod and a bag to carry it all in. I was set; at least for a while! Years came and went and I was enjoying my 35mm camera, but it was getting old and outdated. I was still paying a fortune to have my film developed and waiting for what seemed forever to get my photos back from the lab. Everything seemed to be going to digital and I had seen lots of digital cameras in stores and online so I decided to do some comparison shopping before I made my purchase.

I went online to search for information about the most popular products. Earlier that year I was in need of a couple of major appliances for my home, so I turned to the Internet for help. I discovered that there is a wealth of information to look over on the Internet. When looking for my new camera I could use the same tactics before making my final decision. My wife and I recently moved to Toronto, Ontario and bought a small condo in the downtown Toronto area. I was surprised to find that the condo that I purchased came with compact size appliances that were so old and barely usable. My wife felt that she really needed new appliances and decided to go bargain hunting for well priced appliances in any home appliance store. Being that we were new in Toronto she didn’t know where there were any home appliance stores in the downtown Toronto area. She asked around and was recommended one specific home appliance store.

The latest IFA exhibition was held in Berlin in September, 2010. As the top-level, largest and most influential show for consumer electronics, IFA exhibition attracts the world’s top consumer electronics brands with their heavyweight products each year. From such event, the professionals can predict how home appliances will develop globally in the future 2 to 5 years. Thus, it can be seen as the vane of their new trends which are unveiled as below:

First, home appliances of low energy consumption is becoming the mainstream of development. With the surge of “green” economy, high efficiency and environmental protection is currently regarded as the one common goal of home appliances producers. Their goal is quite specific: to meet the demands of water and electricity energy-saving without neglect of operation convenience. In 2010 IFA exhibition, many producers brought their new energy-saving appliances to the world. For example, “Haier” presented A++ series products which can reduce about 40% energy consumption; “Boche”showed their new products with I-DOS technology which can save energy greatly. Moreover, the market share of high effective home appliances is still on the rise, which indicates that the concept of energy-saving is getting more and more recognition. Although they have large market potential in the future, high energy consumption home appliances will not diminish soon, the publicity of energy-saving concept still needs to be paid much attention to.

Second, the concept of comfort, health and high life quality is prevailing in new appliances. In 2010 IFA, the home appliances on show put more emphasis on operation convenience and humanized design. The supporting technology for such new appliances includes intelligent electronic control, sensor, and machine programming etc, which can reduce human labor enormously. For instance, the advanced washing machines can make programs specifically for clean clothing; dishwashers can guarantee high effective use of water and dry dishes with specific materials; some cookers and mini-typed appliances are equipped with touch pad screen, and they will start to work with just a touch.
